Josh Silver invented self-adjustable glasses to distribute in the developing world. The lenses have silicon gel between them, which the user adjusts until he/she can see clearly. Removing the need for an optician to adjust them makes the glasses highly affordable, and therefore perfect for people who otherwise couldn't afford them. Read more about this awesome idea here.

Linked In (a collection of links from around the web)
So much to share, not enough time to devote a post to each. Check out some links of good stuff from around the web.
Don't Fear the Internet is a series of web tutorials by Jessica Hische and Russ Maschmeyer that promises to be good.
I'd like to carry my stuff in one of these upcycled bags (via Cool Hunting).
Red, black, and white does it for me every time.
Sometimes good design doesn't get used, as in the case with these "killed" book covers.
Lots of goodies to be found at the National Stationery Show.
I'm (really) late in writing about it, but Kate's playlist makes me feel like dancing.
How pretty is this new stationery from Rifle Paper Co.?
True statement.
This alarm dock is a beauty.
Whaaaat? Pure silliness.

Freshbooks
Have you heard of Freshbooks? It allows you to log hours on time sheets, invoice clients, and keep track of your finances. Kinda a dream for freelance designers, and it's affordable (or free if you're only keeping track of 3 clients and one employee).

Know when to fold 'em
This is some serious origami—made with dollar bills. How amazing is it that the swirls on the bill make eyes for the fish? Now that takes skill.

Amazing design advice
While perusing Young Jerks/Dan Cassaro's portfolio, I came across the following bit of wisdom, a tidbit from his 10 Tips:
Kind of a brilliant analogy, no? Be sure to check out the rest. I got a good laugh.
There are two types of designers: Lennons and McCartneys. As a John Lennon, you create work that is message-driven, stark and serious, but you run the risk of seeming pretentious and/or naïve. (In John Lennon's defense, he was unfortunately married to the world's worst art director.) To be a Paul McCartney, on the other hand, means creating beautiful, meticulously crafted graphic design pop music, heavy on style but light on content. While either can be successful on its own (I love Wings), the best design employs both ideology and style. (See: popular music group "The Beatles").

Wake-up call
If Monday mornings have to exist, this alarm is not a bad way to wake up for them.
