Key to my heart.

I love this key necklace from October Anniversary, a company that uses recycled metals and eco-conscious factories. You can choose from five different colors of silk thread—and best of all, it's only $30.

First Mondays

A cool idea.

From SwissMiss:

On the first Monday of every month this Summer, MEET AT THE APARTMENT will open its doors to consultants, freelancers and job-seekers with cabin fever free of charge. Throughout the day, speakers and specialists will be giving seminars on topics such as self-branding, job hunting and blogging.

Perks include: Free WiFi, coffee in the AM, snacks and beverages in the PM, power outlets to keep your laptops juiced, plus all the office supplies you could need.

The first meetup will be Monday, May 4th 2009 from 9am-6pm. Email hello@welcometomeet to receive more information.

From the website:
Meet emerged from the shared experiences of Marc and Sara Schiller, who realized that there was a need for a dedicated space in New York where creative and business executives could gather to re-imagine a business, re-invent a product or pitch potential clients. Advertising agencies, top consumer brands and television networks are among their enthusiastic clientele.

Earthlust

My acknowledgment of Earth Day is coming a bit late...it's been a busy week!
I've been looking for a cute reusable water bottle for a long time now (yes...even my water bottle has to be well-designed), and I LOVE these ones by Earthlust.

Mugs that hug...

These cups by INV/ALT are pretty cool.

Advice to Sink in Slowly

I love this idea!
"Advice to Sink in Slowly" is a set of posters designed by recent graduates. The posters are aimed at giving advice to incoming students and schools participating in the series give a poster to each new student.

There's also a book of postcards of the series, available for purchase here. The cover is designed by Frank Chimero, one of my favorite illustrators. Some of the images from the postcard book can be seen below, but check out the whole set here.

Gravitas

Gravitas, a nicely designed game (that sounds like it could be interesting):

I love the vintage colors and typography.
Description of the game:

“GRAVITAS is a game of discovery – of who we are and how we have lived. There is no right or wrong answer. Although the questions call for reflection, they can be dealt with in a thoughtful manner or a more light hearted one. A certain savoir faire is accumulated in life that reflects our individual stories and experiences. Everyone can offer some GRAVITAS on life’s big questions. The game consists of 143 cards (three questions per card) totalling 429 questions.”

Designed by Hambly & Woolley.

Lisztomania

New Phoenix single, Lisztomania. And it's very poppy! But catchy.
The video reminds me of the toy camera (i.e. Diana) look for video.

May I have this dance?

Um. I'm not one for cheese, but this is a kind of adorable wedding first dance. (Watch the video—the link is underneath the pictures at the link above)

Michel Gondry

This has been posted all over the place this week, but it's still worth mentioning.
For $19.95, Michel Gondry will draw your portrait.
For reals.
Check it out here.

A Friday song.

A new song for you!
Yonlu is Vinicius Gageiro Marques, a Brazilian teen whose music was discovered on his computer by his parents after he committed suicide in 2006. Such a sad story. You can read more about it and hear other songs here.

Work it

Newwork Magazine is full of beautiful spreads. While I haven't been lucky enough to see a hard copy of it, I had fun browsing the website. There are lots of great photographs and typographical layouts.
