Planet Earth, narrated by kids

I love this promo for BBC's Planet Earth, narrated by kids. Especially the part where the kid can't seem to put on her earphones correctly.

Voice Your Opinions

I wrote about the Girl Effect here and here, and now I'm loving the ads that DDB, Lagos created for their newest project, Girl Hub. Girl Hub is the environment that drives the Girl Effect by communicating with girls and educating society about relevant issues. The ads combine girls with speech bubbles for faces combined with the captions, "Give them your voice" and "Speechless, no longer."

Boardwalk Empire

As an awesome ad campaign, Boardwalk Empire (HBO's show that takes place in Prohibition-era Atlantic City) is running a vintage subway train on the 2/3 line in NY. Read more here.

Tesco Home Plus

Here's a smart and awesome idea: Tesco Home Plus, a grocery chain in Korea, devised a way for people to buy groceries while waiting for the subway. They've created graphics that look like supermarket aisles along the station walls. People can use their phones to scan QR codes printed on each "item" in the aisle, which adds the item to their cart. They can then pay and have their groceries delivered to their house. It's like FreshDirect on steroids!

Tesco's argument is that because Koreans are hard workers, they have little time to do their grocery shopping. This system allows for an efficient use of time. Read more here.

Guinness Genius

This ad by Frank Anselmo for Guinness is old (2001), but I've never come across it, and it's pretty brilliant. The matches emulate the look of a pint of Guinness. Read more about his work here.

A kern-el of truth...

Ah! The kerning on the Casino Jack ads hurts my eyes. Painful. Just a thought...

Let your hands do the talking...

These AT&T ads by Guido Daniele amazed me when I saw them online. But when I saw them larger than life on a billboard in Times Square the other day, I was even more impressed. He totally and creatively captured the locations he represented by painting on hands, and with all the texting we all do, the idea goes so well with the concept of advertising a phone.

Mug shot

After some television-induced vegging this weekend, I'm liking the Starbucks VIA commercials.

Anyone else?
