I'm an avid Sesame Street fan, so I enjoyed this (though, I must say, it is not Cookie's best work). The best part comes at the end, when she asks Cookie Monster, "if heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?"

Dark Was the Night

Last night I was lucky enough to get an extra ticket to see the Dark Was The Night benefit concert at Radio City Music Hall. The album is a great compilation of some of my favorite musicians (put together by Red Hot, an AIDS organization), so I was excited to go. One of the most standout performances was My Brightest Diamond's cover of Nina Simone's "Feelin' Good." The song is on the compilation album, but no recording does the lead singer Shara Worden's voice justice. Here's a video I found online of the band performing the song elsewhere...not nearly as good as the performance last night, but it'll have to do....



Posts will be pretty sparse for the rest of the week, since all my finals are due on Friday. See you next week.

Stand By Me

I have a soft spot in my heart for the Stand By Me soundtrack; every summer, on our drive to Coronado, my family would listen to the cassette tape as we'd drive over the Coronado Bay Bridge. Probably in part because of that, I liked this video, which showcases street artists from across the world (ranging from a blind man from New Orleans to South African and Russian musicians). The various musicians listened to the base track on headphones, then added their piece into the song.
